THE FOREST GARDEN

In 2018, we bought this beautiful and historic property. It had overrun gardens and depleted soil from years of cash cropping. I immediately saw the potential to transform it into a productive and diverse food source, while still being good to the environment.

Permaculture is the practice of planting different plants together that symbolically work together. These plants will improve soil conditions by adding nutrients, while other plants encourage pollinators or discourage pests - all ingredients to make a productive guild. With some professional experience in plant care, almost a lifetime of hobby gardening and beekeeping, I undertook the goal to transform this very special property into a productive and environmentally friendly project.

Growing food, beekeeping, and harvesting maple syrup are all part of Lune Forest Garden. I'll share what I learn along the way and any other surprises that come up.
